When I was given a job as an addiciton counsellor for the Quesnel Native Friendship Centre I decided to do some research on "What Therapy Worked?"  I wanted evidence based information.  There have not been many studies but I did find two out of the US.  According to these studies above mentionded therapies worked for some (most had below a 50% sucess rate).

The most successful treatment was Lifeskill coaching (around 84% success) Life Skills is NOT therapy. It is NOT counseling.   Life Skills are problem - solving behaviors that are meant to be used appropriately and responsibly in the management of personal affairs.  The typical result of life skills coaching is performance or goal-directed success with emphasis on taking action (through improved motivation and goal setting skills) and sustaining the changes over time using learned techniques that improve decision making skills and promote positive thinking.  In other words---look at your inner child, do a little therapy and quickly get over it - get a job, go to school, take care of business and take care of yourself.

And I Play by Painting, Writing and Creating Videos

My recipe:

Talk thereapy.  Find a friend to share with.  Or a therapist.  There are many.  Choose one.

Surround yourself with loving and supporting people.  Stay away from those that bring you down.

Stay light and bright.  Look up.  Wear light colored clothing.  Stay out of dark and crungy places.

Diet:  When I first started my inner work I became a vegetarian.  Then I took to eating meat again.  I returned to vegetarianism a year ago and I firmly belief it is a key to inner healing.

Water..lots and lots of water.  Drink it. Bath in it. Watch it.  Find a steam room or a sweat lodge and bath in the heat of the mist.  Use ice to ground yourself when you are too scared to stay in your body.

Move the body.  Exercise, simple exercise like walking, especially in nature.

Get a massage.  Those who know me understand that I believe many of our issues are stored at a cellular level and massage helps to loosen the issues.

Body cleanse.  Liver detox, colon cleanse.

Change your thinking.

Possive affirmations either by listening to them, writing them.

Take time out and be silent.   Totally silent.  No music.  Not  guided meditation.  Listen and pay attention.

Rescue Remedy - Rescue Sleep.  Flower essences by Bach.  Helps keep the committee of idiots in your mind at bay.

Play... and be creative.

Clean up.  Clean your room, your car, your paperwork.  The outer world is a reflection of your inner world.

Love you.. Linda

The Twelve Steps to Insanity

1. We admitted we were powerless over nothing - that we could manage our lives perfectly and those of anyone else who would allow me.

2. Came to believe there was no power greater than ourselves, and the rest of the world was insane.

3. Made a decision to have our loved ones and friends turn their wills and lives over to our care even though they couldn't understand us at all.

4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of everyone we knew.

5. Admitted to the whole world at large the exact nature of everyone else's wrongs.

6. Were entirely ready to make others straighten up and do right.

7. Demanded others to either "shape up or ship out."

8. Made a list of all persons who had harmed us and became willing to go to any length to get even with them all.

9. Got direct revenge on such people wherever possible except when to do so would cost us our own lives or, at the very least, a jail sentence.

10. Continued to take the inventory of others, and when they were wrong, promptly and repeatedly told them about it.

11. Sought through bitching and nagging to improve our relations with others as we couldn't understand them at all, asking only that they knuckle under and do things our way.

12. Having had a complete physical, emotional, spiritual breakdown as the result of these steps, we tried to blame it on others and to get sympathy and pity in all our affairs.
